As we continue to experience growth KENT® Corporation has a fantastic opportunity to join our team as a Tax Associate within the Accounting and Finance Department in Muscatine, IA.  This critical role will work in tandem with the Tax Director and finance departments to help design and implement tax policies and strategies for the organization.  The Tax Associate will assist in enhancing the company’s tax strategy and engage operations leaders to optimize income tax, sales and use tax, personal property tax, international, and various other tax filings and reporting.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Income Tax

• Assist with quarterly federal and state income tax estimates in compliance with federal and state rules
• Provide technical support to company on tax related matters
• Review NEXUS determinations for state filing requirements

Sales and Use Tax

• Coordinate preparation and filing of sales tax returns
• Reconcile various sales & use tax accounts on monthly, quarterly and annual basis
• Complete the monthly nexus review and the annual nexus studies
• Maintain sales tax software and packages to ensure proper configuration and taxation of sales
• Exemption Certificate Compliance Management
• Assist in various specific sales tax projects as assigned across all companies’ functions
• Collaborate with the finance and accounting teams to rectify issues

International Accounting and Tax

• Provide support for International compliance for branch offices
• Work closely with global controllers to gather tax provision and tax return data

Miscellaneous Taxes

• Assist in various tax projects as assigned by Tax Director

EDUCATION:

• BA/BS degree in accounting preferred
• CPA or Master’s Degree preferred

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

• 2-3 years of experience in corporate tax or public accounting

TRAVEL:

• Travel is approximately 10% of the time
