    THE COLLEGE

    Located in the northwest corner of the United States, Peninsula College is nestled in the foothills of the Olympic Mountains. The main campus in Port Angeles, Washington, overlooks the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the nearby city of Victoria, British Columbia, and has easy access to the Pacific Ocean, Olympic National Park, and Seattle. Port Angeles is two hours from Seattle and a one-hour ferry ride to Victoria, Canada. The College is honored to serve six sovereign American Indian nations in the region: Jamestown S’Klallam, Lower Elwha Klallam, Quileute, Makah, Hoh, and Port Gamble S’Klallam.

    The College is honored to have strong relationships with these six federally recognized Tribes in the College’s service district. The College is home to Longhouse of Learning. It is the first Longhouse in the nation to be built on a community College campus. The College offers transferable Indigenous language courses in Klallam/S’Klallam, Makah and Quileute and Hoh languages. Instructional programs include a Tribal Homeland Security & Emergency Management certificate and an Integrated Indigenous Studies transfer pathway.     THE POSITION

    Peninsula College is recruiting for full time temporary business administration instructor to teach courses in the Business Administration and Management associates and bachelors degree programs. Sample course topics are accounting, QuickBooks, payroll and business taxes, management, and managerial finance.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Duties from faculty contract are in italics

    • Develop, assess, improve, and deliver curriculum
    • Teach assigned business courses in accordance with course descriptions and learning outcomes outlined in the syllabi
    • Gather, organize and/or create course materials that facilitate learning
    • Utilize appropriate technology to facilitate teaching and learning in the lab, classroom and online
    • Through the course syllabus, orient students at the beginning of each course to the objectives of the course, learning outcomes, assessment methods, basis of grading, attendance requirements, the nature of assignments and class requirements
    • Obtain and maintain sufficient learning assessment data in order to provide a valid and reasonable basis for assignment of grades
    • Provide records and data needed to comply with federal and state requirements and regional accreditation standards
    • Maintain regularly scheduled and posted office hours for assisting students
    • Participate in student academic advising
    • Serve on College committees, which include ad hoc committees, strategic College priority committees, and standing committees as defined in the procedure for Board Policy
    • Serve on faculty hiring committees as assigned
    • Participate in scheduled division meetings and academic employee meetings
    • Create and regularly update a Professional Development Plan that ensures continuing education and ongoing currency in one’s instructional area and current pedagogies
    • Participate in annual planning and program review
    • Hold office hours and be available to advise and support students
    • Ensure ongoing review and assessment of course, program, and institutional student learning outcomes

    Duties of the position requiring knowledge, skills, and abilities:

    • Experience working with computers and technology to deliver or support instruction.
    • Proven strong communication skills, written and oral.
    • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
    • Able to work a flexible schedule including evenings.
    • The characteristics of team player, autonomy, timeliness in task performance, initiative, and a desire to learn.

    Duties of the position requiring previous experience:

    • Teaching experience in a formal or workplace setting preferred.
    • Online teaching experience a plus.

    Required physical abilities:

    • Work will typically be performed in a classroom setting and may require standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time.

    Required education or certificates:

    • Master’s degree in Business Administration or related field required

    Employment Terms

    • A full-time tenure-track position beginning the 2023 Fall quarter; this is a nine-month academic year appointment.
    • The College has a negotiated faculty salary schedule in which placement on the schedule is determined by education level and experience.
    • A standard 175-day contract is written annually for the period of September to June. Late contracts will be prorated on the basis of work-days remaining in the contract year.
