JOB TITLE:   

Assistant Professor - Chemistry

JOB PURPOSE:   

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Wyoming invites applications for a tenure-track position in organic chemistry. Individuals from all areas of organic chemistry are encouraged to apply including polymer chemistry, energy science and chemical biology. The position will be filled at the Assistant Professor level and candidates must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent with postdoctoral experience highly desirable. Expectations for the successful candidate will include: excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, nationally recognized and externally funded research program and participation in departmental and university-wide governance. 

The department of chemistry is part of the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences (CEPS), which includes 10 departments including the school of computing. The College prides itself on research innovation, teaching excellence, industrial engagement, and broader societal impact, and has recently seen a significant increase in its budget. This includes new core facilities and dedicated funding for research initiatives. We are hiring a cohort of new faculty across the College, and seek to attract a diverse and inclusive group of talented early-stage faculty.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

• Teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, 
• Participation in departmental and university-wide governance,
• Externally funded research program.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY: 

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

Ph.D. in any area of organic chemistry 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

• Postdoctoral experience
• Experience in chemical biology, polymer chemistry or energy science
