RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Follow procedures that have been established for the health and safety of the students. 2.Help students to develop efficient and effective ways of learning and studying. 3.Help students grow in their skill and understanding of the Sciences. 4.Help students to select and use appropriate learning materials and resources. 5.Utilize student data to inform and guide the design of lesson plan development. 6.Utilize the John Collins Writing Program in classroom instruction. 7.Establish and maintain a stimulating, attractive environment for learning using varied techniques. 8.Establish and enforce a disciplinary code consistent with the student handbook, which reinforces a professional atmosphere. 9.Implement the inclusion model of education. Differentiated instruction will be used so that students of varied abilities and learning styles will learn. 10.Be equally competent to teach any of the life sciences. 11.Assist students in developing an appreciation for the Sciences and the application to modern society. 12.Adhere to and follow through with school-wide writing or reading programs. 13.Help students grow in their ability to work with others in classroom and school situations especially when enrolled in nontraditional programs. 14.Develop and maintain effective communication with parents. 15.Provide students with the necessary grade-level 21st century readiness skills necessary for both college and career readiness. 16.Teach to the standards contained in the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks/Common Core Literacy Standards. 17.Plan individual lessons in Science for each student using assessment data to address deficiencies. 18.Supervise and maintain a safe environment for hands-on Science lab and other project related work. 19.Utilize data from state tests and Whittier tests to address areas of weakness during both in-school and after-school tutoring. 20.Establish and maintain a tutoring schedule for all students who have not passed MCAS, are in danger of failing Biology, or those students who request tutoring. 21.Actively collaborate with colleagues in a Professional Learning Community. 22.Perform all duties and functions as deemed necessary by the Superintendent, Administration and his/her designee.
