    Job Description:

We approach problems with creativity and innovation. Schnabel is seeking a temporary full-time intern with a Civil Engineering background to support our growing business. The emphasis for this position is broadening the intern’s practical knowledge and experience by applying professional principles to real problems under the supervision of senior engineering personnel. The position will typically be held from mid-May through mid-August of 2024.  Other timeframes may be considered if necessary.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Geotechnical investigations at undeveloped and partially developed sites and geotechnical analyses
    • Drafting proposals and reports
    • Performing construction observation and materials testing at construction sites
    • Some travel may be required

    Required Skills/Experience:

    • Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited Civil/Geological/Environmental Engineering Bachelor’s
    • Possess good oral and written communication skills and computer literacy
    • Ability to work with direction as part of a team
    • Willingness to perform a variety of tasks including office and field work
    • Desire and willingness to work outdoors at undeveloped sites and construction sites
    • Ability to routinely lift up to 40 pounds

    Preferred Skills/Experience:

    • Previous interning experience with an Earth and Environmental firm
    • Master’s degree program is preferred, enrollment in other college engineering or relevant science programs may be considered

    Other Requirements:

    • Valid driver’s license and a personal vehicle (excluding mileage for commute) will be reimbursed based on the allowable IRS rate for travel assignments
    • Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record and credit check
