Job Summary: Teaches content and skills in Social Studies to middle school students

Utilizes expertise in Social Studies to revise the curriculum to meet the level of rigor for all students in a cultural and diverse classroom
Instructs students through lessons that are engaging and motivates all students to succeed in the common core state standards
Adapts Social Studies material and methods to develop relevant sequential assignments and lesson plans that guide and challenge students.
Develops lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with ISAAC’s instructional philosophy and congruent with the goals of the school
Provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student and subgroups of students.
Evaluates the academic and social growth of students, keeps accurate and appropriate school records, and other recordkeeping activities as necessary.
Encourages students to think independently and to express original ideas.
Promotes student discussion through the daily use of Accountable Talk
Evaluates each student’s progress in meeting the course standards for Social Studies
Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.
Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve learning and health problems
Communicates with parents and SRBI Team on student progress.
Supervises students in assigned out-of-classroom activities during the work day.
Participates in faculty committees and engages in Professional Learning Community activities.
Administers summative assessments in accordance with the curriculum and SDE requirements.
Models professional and ethical practices and behaviors in all activities
