Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Asst. Professor - Computer Science provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Asst. Professor - Computer Science typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and contributes to research In a specialized field. The Department of Computer Science and Information Technology invites applications for two one-year Visiting Assistant Professors with a focus on instruction, to begin in Fall 2024.
Visiting Assistant Professor positions are non-tenure-track positions, hired on a one-year contract. A Ph.D. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field is strongly encouraged, though ABD applicants and those with relevant master’s degrees will be considered. Applicants must have a strong commitment to undergraduate education. Visiting full-time faculty teach 12 credits per semester, and will have the opportunities to teach introductory, intermediate, and advanced coursework depending on their experience and areas of interest.
The Computer Science & Information Technology department has 8 full-time faculty members. The Department of Computer Science and Information Technology oversees programs leading to a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Technology, and Cybersecurity; and a program leading to a Master of Science in Computer Science. The Department also offers service courses for other University programs.Essential Job Functions:
- The teaching of undergraduate courses in Computer Science, Information Technology or tangential fields as required by the University and specified by the Department Chair.
- The faculty member should carry out service duties as needed within the department.
- Supervision of laboratory work, if appropriate.
