    Job Title: KC PA Program – Assistant Professor

     

    Description and Overview as a PA program within a Christian Institution:

     

    Kettering College, born out of Adventist faith, is located on a suburban campus near Dayton, Ohio offering graduate and undergraduate degrees in health science. Upholding Christ, the college educates students to make service a life calling and to view health as harmony with God in body, mind, and spirit as a reflection of Christ’s unconditional love. Owned and operated by Kettering Medical Center and led by an exceptional and dedicated faculty, we have been educating quality Physician Assistants since 1973 and are distinguished as one of the oldest PA programs in the nation.

    A successful candidate will place emphasis on providing high quality education and portray excellence in all areas of this academic appointment and during clinical practice.

    Responsibilities & Requirements

    Position Responsibilities:

    • Demonstrate a personal commitment to honesty, integrity and trust as a member of the Kettering College PA department and representative of Kettering College.
    • Utilize professional interpersonal communication skills while collaborating among experienced faculty and staff members.
    • Exemplify professionalism among a diverse student body and healthcare system.
    • Deliver evidence-based instructional content within a modular-based curriculum, according to the program’s needs (anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, clinical medicine, history & physical exam and evidence based therapeutics).
    • Create well written learning objectives, assignments and exams to fairly assess student knowledge
    • Participate as a instructor and facilitator of student assessment and remediations, throughout the clinical and didactic phases
    • Serve as an advisor to PA students within the didactic and clinical phase of instruction.
    • Productively engage in ongoing program assessment and accreditation activities.
    • Attend faculty development activities including PAEA workshops and conferences
    • Seek and participate in program relevant research activities
    • Serve on committees within in Kettering College and Kettering Health Network as assigned by Program Director.
    • Attend Kettering College and PA program institutional activities
    • Other responsibilities as determined by department chair/director

    Preferred Qualifications

    Position Requirements:

    • Master's degree or higher from an accredited PA Program.
    • Current NCCPA certification.
    • Holds an active, valid, unrestricted PA license to practice medicine in the state of Ohio.
    • Currently practicing as a Physician Assistant with a minimum of 3 years of full-time clinical experience.
    • Previous academic health care experience as a didactic instructor or clinical preceptor.

    Skills:

    • Strong at both oral and written communication.
    • Ability to organize and problem solve.
    • Prior teaching and program assessment skills are desirable. 
    • Strong Interpersonal skills with ability to integrate and collaborate with current team.
