    Job Summary/Basic Function
    The Department of Economics is seeking a student office assistant to work in the department.

    Required Qualifications
    Must be a current GOVT major in good academic standing during the time of employment.
    • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
    • Ability to work with faculty and staff.
    • Ability to use office telephone, including answering calls, initiating calls, transferring calls, placing calls on hold, and taking messages.
    • Ability to use department copier/printer/scanner, including filling paper, replacing toner and staple cartridges.
    • Good communication skills.
    • Successful completion of University required background checks


    Preferred Qualifications
    • Previous experience working in an office setting
    • Customer service skills tasks may include but are not limited to:
      • Answer phones, take messages and transfer accordingly
      • Greeting walk in guests and answering questions
    • Computer skills (Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.).


    Job Duties
    Task may included but are not limited to:
    • Support the day-to-day operations and work independently and/or as a team to accomplish the overall mission and goals of the office.
    • May make deliveries around campus, dropping off and picking up items to and from other offices.
    • Copy, print and scan documents when necessary.
    • Perform specific duties and provide assistance when requested.
    • Answering telephone calls, transferring them, and/or taking messages.
    • Other duties as assigned.



    Working Conditions and Physical Effort
    • Be able to sit/stand and use a computer for the length of shift
    • Be able to lift 10lbs.
