Position Summary:
The Physical Therapy Asst. demonstrates sound knowledge of the principles and applications of physical therapy procedures and modalities. Works under the supervision of the physical therapist with monthly documentation of supervision. The physical therapy assistant creates a work environment that is goal directed, culturally and age specific.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Administers treatment/modalities as directed by the staff physical therapist, after the physical therapist has evaluated the patient; treats patients in accordance with professional standards of care and practice based upon the patient’s disability, age and psychosocial needs.
• Provides patient/family/caregiver education based upon the patient’s disability, age and psychosocial needs.
• Prepares professional documentation in a timely manner.
• Exhibits professional communication and management skills.
• Supervises and instructs rehabilitation techs as necessary.
Education:
Must be a graduate of a Physical Therapy Assistant program approved by the council of Medical Education and Hospitals of the American Medical Association (AMA).
Experience:
One or more years of clinical experience is preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
Licensed in Kentucky for Physical Therapy Asst. and a valid Kentucky Driver’s License.
