Asst. Professor - History teaches courses in the discipline area of history. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Asst. Professor - History provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Asst. Professor - History typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and contributes to research In a specialized field. Position Summary:
The History department seeks a passionate and energetic teacher to fill a one-year, full-time teaching position beginning in the 2024/2025 academic year. Candidates should be interested in being part of a collaborative group of teachers and working with highly motivated high school students in a diverse, mostly residential community.
Position Requirements
We are looking for a dynamic candidate who will be an active participant in the academic, athletic, and co-curricular programs at the Academy. Temporary housing with associated residential duties may be available.
Strong candidates will have academic training and professional experience that enables them to teach general courses in American history and teach other courses already offered by the academy’s history department. Field of expertise in history is open. Prior teaching experience and residential work is highly desirable.
