Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and organized Legal Secretary/Legal Assistant to join our team. As such, you will provide administrative support to our legal staff and ensure the smooth operation of our law office. Responsibilities:
-Assist attorneys with case preparation, including drafting and proofing legal documents and correspondence
- Conduct legal research using resources such as Westlaw and Lexis-Nexis
- Schedule appointments, meetings, and court hearings
-Transcribe dictations and prepare accurate written summaries
-Maintain and organize electronic and physical case files
- Maintain calendars and deadlines for attorneys
- Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel
- Assist attorneys in preparing for trials and hearings
- Perform general clerical duties such as answering phone calls, managing emails, and handling mail
Experience:
- Previous experience as a Legal Secretary or in a similar role preferred
- Familiarity with legal research tools such as Westlaw and Lexis-Nexis is a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
