Title: Development Director

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Executive Director, serves as a work leader and spearheads development efforts for Quad City Arts. This position organizes fundraising initiatives, works with board members, identifies and writes grants, manages the annual fundraising campaign, and cultivates relationships with donors together with the Executive Director. This position works closely with a variety of employees, volunteers and community members.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Develop and oversee the Quad City Arts annual fundraising plan.
2. Collaborate with the Marketing and Design Director to develop a digital fundraising strategy and continue its growth.
3. Identify prospective individual and corporate donors and develop strategies to cultivate relationships.
4. Secure financial support from individuals, foundations, and corporations.
5. Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors, both individual and corporate; as well as sponsors.
6. Create and execute a strategy for a large, sustained base of annual individual donors.
7. Develop print and digital marketing collateral related to fundraising in collaboration with the Marketing and Design Director.
8. Collaborate with staff on the management and planning of special events.
9. Assist with the implementation of development software and maintenance process.
10. Uses sales and spending cycles to guide fundraising campaign decisions. Utilizes data to construct reports and/or graphs to convey the strategies and needs of the organization.
11. Identify and complete content to earn grants for programs.
12. Secures sponsors to underwrite the programs and events.
13. Creates a respectful reputation and image for Quad City Arts.
14. Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Education/Experience:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in business administration, communications or a similar field. A degree in nonprofit administration is a plus.
OR – Requires education that would be equivalent to a bachelor's degree between on-the-job experience and college courses within business administration, communications, or similar.
Requires a minimum of three years of professional experience in development, experience with non-profit organization is preferred.
Previous fundraising is required. Management or leadership experience preferred. Knowledge of grant writing is preferred.
Requires excellent computer skills with working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
Interpersonal Skills: Requires the interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with donors, sponsors, employees and community members. Must possess effective communication skills including written, verbal and listening skills. Creative, self-starter attitude is beneficial.
Analytical Abilities: Ability to problem solve is required, as well as attention to detail. Requires the ability to independently analyze and interpret data and to strategize fundraising efforts. Organizational, time-management skills are needed.
Working Conditions: Requires the ability to work within a normal office environment with irregular and extended hours. Position may require stooping, climbing stairs, bending and lifting materials weighing between 20 and 40 pounds. Some travel may be required for this position.
