    Position Details

    Job Summary
    The Department of Mathematics at Eastern Washington University is seeking a Special Faculty Lecturer to teach courses in mathematics and/or statistics. This 9-month appointment is for the academic year 2024/25 starting September 16, 2024 and ending June 15, 2025. The appointment may be renewed based on departmental needs.

    The College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics is one of the most exciting places to be a student at Eastern Washington University. The College of Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics prepares students to succeed in fields such as Biology, Chemistry, Computer Programming, Data Science, Geoscience, Web Design, and Computational Mathematics.
    The Department of Mathematics is a diverse department offering a variety of degrees including Bachelor’s Degrees in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Data Science and a Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics.
    The typical workload for this position will involve teaching three courses per quarter (45 credits per academic year). The candidate should be able to teach a variety of mathematics courses, preferably including statistics at multiple levels. This is a teaching-only position. The position will offer opportunities to engage in collaborative research and service of interest to the candidate, but this is not a requirement.

    Required Qualifications
    • Master’s or higher degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Statistics or closely related degree.
    • Ability to teach a wide range of courses at multiple levels and modalities.
    • Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to the diverse needs, including universal access, of our students, faculty, staff, and the public.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Advance degree in Statistics or experience in teaching statistics at multiple levels.
    • College and/or K-12 mathematics teaching experience.
    • Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching, as instructor of record, of undergraduate mathematics coursework.
