    Yakima Valley College seeks an innovative Mathematics Instructor committed to community college students and their success. This position is full-time, non-tenure track. We are an innovative and equity-focused college, dedicated to helping our students achieve their academic and personal goals. All faculty are engaged in the assessment of college goals and purposes. The Mathematics Instructor reports to the Dean of Arts and Sciences.

    • Incorporate student-centered teaching methods that support successful learning appropriate to the student population at Yakima Valley College
    • Create an equitable environment conducive to meeting students’ learning needs.
    • Teach a variety of courses in Mathematics.
    • Use current and relevant technologies to support student success.
    • Provide student-centered academic advising within Yakima Valley College’s Guided Pathways model.
    • Participate in assessment of institutional and program learning outcomes.
    • Serve on departmental, institutional, and/or community committees.
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Earned Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in Mathematics, Math Education, Statistics, or a related field (e.g. Physics, Engineering)
    • Demonstrated successful teaching experience in mathematics coursework.
    • Experience or clearly stated interest in serving populations diverse in age, culture, and ethnicity.
    • Demonstrated ability to implement curriculum and deliver instruction in multiple modes of instruction (online, hybrid, and face-to-face)
    DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Successful college teaching experience, preferably community college
    • Experience and interest in serving underrepresented students or communities (e.g. Latinx, indigenous and other students of color, LGBTQ , first generation)
    • Understanding of and commitment to the community college philosophy and life-long learning
    • Background in teaching all levels of mathematics, from developmental to transfer level Calculus, including Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, and Statistics
    • Experience or interest in teaching within a co-requisite math support model.
    • Experience or interest in using a variety of student-centered instructional and assessment techniques.
    • Experience or interest in curriculum development, assessment, and outcomes-based learning.
    • Successful experience advising students and developing course materials.
    • Experience or interest in teaching in a variety of different modalities (night classes, hybrid classes, online classes)
    KNOWLEDGE OF:
    • Knowledge of current and effective pedagogical techniques 
    ABILITY TO:
    • Demonstrate dedication to students by creating an equitable environment conducive to meeting students’ learning needs.
    • Teach a variety of courses in Mathematics. 
    • Demonstrate Commitment to upgrade knowledge and skills in order to maintain relevant curriculum.
    • Demonstrate enthusiasm for using and learning new technologies to support student success.
    • Provide student-centered academic advising within YVC’s Guided Pathways model.
    • Serve on institutional and community committees, including advisory and K-12 partnership committees.
