Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or Physician Assistant to join our healthcare team. As a Provider, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive psychiatric care to patients across the lifespan, including assessment, diagnosis, medication management, and therapy. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in psychiatric nursing, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations of patients, including thorough assessment of mental health history, current symptoms, and psychosocial factors.
- Formulate accurate diagnoses based on assessment findings and evidence-based practice guidelines.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with patients, families, and other healthcare providers.
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, including monitoring for efficacy, side effects, and potential interactions.
- Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and self-care strategies.
- Monitor patients' progress over time, adjust treatment plans as needed, and facilitate referrals to other healthcare professionals or community resources.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and primary care providers, to ensure coordinated and holistic care.
- Document patient assessments, treatment plans, interventions, and outcomes accurately and in a timely manner, following regulatory and organizational guidelines.
- Stay current with developments in psychiatric nursing practice, pharmacology, and mental health research through ongoing education and professional development activities.
Qualifications:
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing with a specialization in psychiatric-mental health.
- Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) and certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) through a nationally recognized credentialing body.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in psychiatric environment, preferably in a variety of settings such as outpatient clinics, inpatient units, and community mental health centers.
- Proficiency in conducting psychiatric assessments, diagnosing mental health disorders, and developing treatment plans.
- Demonstrated ability to prescribe and manage psychotropic medications safely and effectively, adhering to prescribing guidelines and regulations.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish therapeutic rapport with patients from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to maintaining high ethical and professional standards, including respect for patient autonomy, confidentiality, and informed consent.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to participate in continuing education and professional development activities to enhance clinical knowledge and skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with specialized populations, such as children and adolescents, adults, older adults, or individuals with co-occurring substance use disorders.
- Certification or training in specific psychotherapeutic modalities, such as CBT, DBT, or trauma-informed care.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and other healthcare technology tools.
- Knowledge of reimbursement mechanisms, billing practices, and healthcare regulations related to psychiatric services.
- Membership in professional organizations related to psychiatric nursing or advanced practice nursing.
Working Conditions:
- The PMHNP will primarily work in an outpatient clinic setting, with occasional opportunities for telepsychiatry or consultation-liaison services at local hospitals.
- The PMHNP will collaborate closely with other healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and primary care providers, in a collaborative and supportive environment.
