    Primary Purpose of Position
    The Department of Social Work and Sociology is a supportive community of committed faculty and practitioners who prepare students to make a positive impact on the lives of others. Degree options include the Bachelor of Sociology, the Bachelor of Social Work, a Master of Social Work (offered with the University of North Carolina at Greensboro) and a Ph.D. in Social Work (offered with the University of North Carolina at Greensboro). Both the Bachelor and Masters Social work programs are fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). We are committed to excellence in education by preparing our students to face complex social problems with knowledge of evidenced based practice and creative solutions. Our curriculum and internships provide learning opportunities that foster leadership to promote the development of social and economic justice through practice and community engaged scholarship.

    Primary Function of Organizational Unit
    As an 1890 land grant and doctoral-research university, North Carolina A&T State University enjoys a long-standing national reputation in learning, discovery, and engagement. As the largest HBCU in the nation, our enrollment is more than 12,700 students and our workforce includes more than 2,000 employees. North Carolina A&T offers undergraduate and graduate degrees through eight academic colleges. North Carolina A&T State University offers over 90-degree programs at the bachelor, masters and doctoral levels. Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences offers programs in Speech Communications/Health Communications, Health Service Management, Kinesiology, Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, and Sociology. Through innovative programs, high impact, and student-centered pedagogy, faculty in the college foster an inter-professional learning environment for undergraduate and graduate students. Faculty also engage in scholarly and service activities at the department, school, college, university, and community levels, and within professional organizations. Social justice and promotion of health equity are integral components of the mission of the college. The Department of Social Work and Sociology has 290 undergraduate students and 150 graduate students. The department is seeking a candidate to join the Bachelor of Social Work program and our highly interactive and productive faculty.

    Minimum Requirements
    Candidates must have a PhD in social work or PhD in a closely related field and a MSW from an accredited School of Social Work. Rank will be determined by the candidate's experience and qualifications.

    Candidates with evidence of research productivity are preferred.
    Clinical experience and a LCSW are preferred.
