Asst. Professor - Special Education jobs in Saginaw, MI

JOB SUMMARY:  
The Teacher Education Department at Saginaw Valley State University invites applications for a full time, tenure track position as an Assistant Professor to teach courses in Early Childhood and Elementary Literacy. 

We seek a colleague who can engage in the culture of teaching, scholarship and service within the College of Education, the university, and the surrounding community.  

Responsibilities for the position will include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level, in-person and virtual formats, maintaining an active scholarship agenda, and engaging in service within and outside of the university.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

• Earned Doctorate in Literacy, Early Childhood or related field (A.B.D. candidates will be considered and are invited to apply).
• Minimum of three years teaching experience in Birth to 3rd grade environments.
• Evidence of scholarship related to early childhood and/or elementary literacy.
• Evidence of active service to department, college, and/or community more broadly.
  
  

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience with designing curriculum focused on Birth through 3rd grade teaching.
• Knowledge of Michigan Birth to Kindergarten, Kindergarten-3rd grade, and 3rd-6th grade standards for lower and upper elementary teacher preparation.
• Preference will be given to candidates who have certification and/or experience designing curriculum, teaching undergraduate coursework, or supervising fieldwork focused on developmental literacy and early childhood.
