Founded in 2002, Eastside Prep was re-accredited by the Northwest Association of Independent Schools (NWAIS) in January 2019. Eastside Prep has grown from 17 students in 2003-2004 to a projected total of 540 students for the academic year 2024-2025.

    Position Summary: We are seeking a talented and engaging Athletic Trainer/Athletic Department Assistant to provide exceptional care to middle and high school student-athletes while providing assistance to coaches, athletic directors, parents, and the broader EPS community on matters of injury prevention, rehabilitation, wellness, and health-related concerns. The Athletic Trainer will lead community efforts in safety/wellness education and provide operational support to the athletic department on a day-to-day basis. The ideal candidate must possess the ability to uphold confidentiality, manage multiple projects and shifting priorities in high-pressure situations, and maintain a flexible work schedule.

    Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Athletic Trainer/Department Assistant will adhere to a weekly schedule determined by the Director of Athletics, which will fluctuate according to the athletic season's demands. This is a permanent, 12-month, full-time position, with a start date of August 1st, 2024.

    Athletic Training Job Responsibilities include:

    • Delivers the healthcare of students including first aid/emergency care, on-site injury evaluation, application of appropriate modalities, development and implementation of rehabilitation and prevention programs, and communication with parents/coaches/faculty/student's healthcare team.
    • Medical coverage for middle school and upper school team practices and home competitions.
    • Organize and document medical records in a timely and accurate fashion inclusive of first report of injury, diagnosis, physician referral, player assessments, player treatments, and return to play dates.
    • Communication with coaches, parents, and other staff when necessary, including, but not limited to, injury status, injury reports, and return-to-play progressions.
    • Coordinating referrals to physicians and medical specialists when appropriate.
    • Daily operation and maintenance of athletic training facilities.
    • Abide by the rules set forth by the WIAA and the by-laws and policies of the State of Washington.
    • Complete timely and accurate injury reports as a part of the greater school's safety procedure.
    • Conduct injury risk assessments and create injury prevention programs for individuals and teams.
    • Create and maintain an Emergency Action Plan (EAP) and train relevant faculty and coaching staff on its implementation.
    • Create and maintain a concussion protocol inclusive of a thorough evaluation and communication procedure that considers a student's home, athletic, and academic life.
    • Complies with OSHA standards regarding blood-borne pathogens, and HIPAA privacy standards.
    • Provision and maintenance of a medical kit for each in-season team for both upper school and middle school.
    • Management of appropriate supporting documents including, but not limited to doctor’s notes and return-to-play progression documentation.
    • Travel for away games is not required unless the team makes it to playoffs or if the opponent does not have an athletic trainer.

    Athletic Administrative Assistant Job Responsibilities include:

    • Works with the athletics team within various platforms including Team Snap, Arbiter, VNN, NFHS, and Final Forms, ensuring up-to-date and accurate information
    • Maintains student records documenting student eligibility; athletic forms, student physicals, concussion baseline testing, and other related records for the purpose of maintaining compliance with WIAA and District rules and regulations
    • Maintains and distributes athlete emergency medical forms to coaches prior to each season
    • Works with the athletics team to coordinate team schedules (practices, contests, transportation, field rentals)
    • Works with the athletics team to support all-hands-on-deck events (Sports Banquet, Homecoming, Tailgates, etc.)
    • Works with the athletics team in the distribution, collection, and inventory of team uniforms
    • Works with the athletics team coordinating athletics social media efforts (Instagram/Facebook/VNN/Twitter)
    • Works with the athletics team to ensure the athletics department upholds the values and mission of EPS, while continuing our efforts to build and maintain an athletic culture we are all proud of



    Qualifications


    Credentials and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree required, in a field related to sports medicine preferred
    • Graduate degree preferred
    • NATA certification required
    • Must maintain up-to-date CPR/BLS certification as required by the DOH and BOC
    • Must maintain continuing education according to the requirements of the Board of Certification for certification and state licensure

    Compensation

    Our competitive salary range is $66,000 to $88,000, based on experience
