    APPOINTMENT: December 2022

    RESPONSIBILITIES: The Deputy Director of Athletics will provide leadership to all of the department's internal operations; is a member of the Athletic Director's senior leadership team; and supervises a broad range of sports programs. The Deputy Director of Athletics provides supervision and leadership for student-athlete services including but not limited to academic advising, compliance, admissions, student housing, financial aid, scholarship administration, athletic training, strength and conditioning, equipment management and life skills. This position will also represent the athletics department on various University, conference, and national committees and will serve as the Senior Woman Administrator.

    Requirements:

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Bachelor's degree in sports management, athletics administration, or related field;
    • Five (5) years of athletic administrative experience at the collegiate level;
    • Demonstrated understanding of, and implementation of programs and procedures to ensure full compliance with the NCAA, conference and institutional rules, regulations, and procedures;
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively organize, manage and supervise a department unit;
    • Demonstrated commitment to gender equity and diversity;
    • Demonstrated strong administrative, communications, and interpersonal skills;
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
    • Knowledge of rules and regulations governing

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Master's degree in sport management, health, or business administration related field;
    • NCAA Division I senior-level athletic administration experience
    • Student-athlete services administrative experience

    For a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body). Unless otherwise stated, the degree must be conferred at the time of appointment.

    WIU Intercollegiate Athletics

    The University's athletics program, based on the Macomb campus, sponsors 17 NCAA Division I intercollegiate men's and women's varsity sports. Football competes in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision through the Missouri Valley Football Conference; all other varsity sports compete at the Division I level through The Summit League
