POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for assisting the Alexandria Industries Automation team with process improvement initiatives and special projects in order to further develop automation engineering knowledge and skills and to gain hands on experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following description of work to be performed by this individual is not intended to be all-inclusive. Rather, it focuses on the major tasks that must be accomplished. There are many necessary activities to satisfy any of the following performance guidelines.

• Ensure that safety is always the number one priority at Alexandria Industries; promote and support a safe work environment and safety-oriented culture by following all safety programs and guidelines.
• Evaluate ergonomics and safety throughout various manufacturing
• Assist in the design and assembly of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems and
• Work with production departments to develop, improve and maintain manufacturing
• Assist with automation maintenance, troubleshooting, and
• Assist in the design of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic
• Interpret blueprints and schematics in order to properly assemble automated
• Assistance with automated manufacturing equipment: panel building, wiring, programming and plumbing

OTHER JOB DUTIES: (Not considered essential to the job)

• Perform all other related assignments (including special projects) as required in a professional and cooperative manner.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Education:
   • High School diploma or equivalent degree
   • Currently enrolled in an electrical, mechatronics, or similar technical engineering program at a college or university is preferred but not required
   • Completion of college level basic computer programming classes is preferred but not required
2. Experience:
   • Previous internship or working experience in a manufacturing environment preferred but not
3. Other required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
   • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

• Ability to recognize safety concerns
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong algebra skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Basic blueprint/schematic reading skills (fluid power and electrical)
• Basic understanding of 3D modelling
• Basic understanding or ability to learn 2D drawing software such as AutoCAD, Smartsheet,
• Basic ability to read, interpret and create mechanical drawings
• Working understanding of the use of power tools
