    Our small, close-knit team at The Coffee Pot Bakery Cafe is looking for a hard-working, team-minded Bakery Manager to join our crew!     The Bakery Manager is responsible for overseeing and actively participating in the baking and cooking of in-house recipes efficiently in commercial quantities, with a high level of accuracy, while carefully upholding food safety standards, product quality, and presentation. They also have added responsibility to ensure the proper function of the bakery through training, feedback, quality control, planning/testing, ordering, and other logistical duties.

    HOURS: This position would be full-time, 40 hours per week, and would include early morning shifts and daytime shifts as needed, including Saturday mornings.

    SALARY & BENEFITS:

    • $50,000-$65,000/year DOE
    • 5 days PTO for the remaining calendar year 2024, increases to 10 days in 2025.

    DIRECT SUPERVISOR: Director of Operations

    TASKS & REQUIREMENTS: Include but are not limited to:

    • Preparing our in-house baked goods, soups, breads, pies, and other recipes in a food-safe, timely, and consistent manner.
    • Supervising and participating in kitchen and dining area deep-cleaning duties, including washing dishes.
    • Ability to manage time well, including punctuality, efficiently executing tasks, and being careful to look for additional tasks to help with when known duties are finished. Proactive in ensuring the baking team does the same.
    • Must be able to stand for 8 hours at a time.
    • Must be able to lift and move 50lbs multiple times per day. (i.e. moving bags of flour, carrying Hobart mixing bowl full of dough, lifting a full pot of soup, etc.)
    • Coordinating, supervising, and helping to carry out the training of new bakers on all bakery functions.
    • Responsible to keep a close eye on proper ingredient use and process methods, in order to minimize food waste through training, processes, and oversight.
    • In charge of food safety management in the bakery, and helps oversee this in the cafe team as well as a support to the Director of Operations - making sure standards are being carried out, and following up with staff and Director of Operations to solve issues when they are not.
    • Responsible for ensuring a high level of consistency and quality in all food items made in-house. When something is not up to quality, communicating/coordinating with Director of Operations to come up with a solution, and communicating and carrying out the planned solution with baking team. (ex. Additional training/reminders, process updates, etc.).
    • In charge of communicating updates and process changes to the bakery team, and following through to make sure they are sustainable and that the team continues to use them. If not sustainable, stays in communication with Director of Operations to find a solution that is.
    • In charge of communicating feedback and issues that the bakery team are facing to the Director of Operations, and collaborating for solutions.
    • Putting together the daily Baking List assignments. (This task rotates through leadership team)
    • Ordering and checking in food, paper goods, and other supplies. (This task rotates through leadership team)
    • In charge of new recipe development when needed, and proposals for specials when applicable.
    • Responsible for special order approval and tracking strategies: assessing resources to either approve or deny special orders, working with customers to finalize details, tracking progress and assigning tasks on these orders to make sure we are on track for fulfillment.
    • Will be included in the rotation for early morning calls when issues or questions arise from bakers prior to business hours.
    • Is responsible as a first-line call to fill gaps in the baking schedule, and ensure necessary baking tasks are being completed when other bakers are sick etc.
    • Working with the Director of Operations to strategize and carry out holiday pre-order programs, in charge of managing the baking team time and resources to build up stock for holiday items and stay on track for goals.
    • Will collaborate with Director of Operations on HR duties in the bakery, including hiring, firing, reviews, and performance documentation and follow up.
    • In charge of setting the tone and culture in the bakery for a kind and welcoming atmosphere, hard work ethic, efficient and responsible use of time, choosing a positive attitude, and stopping gossip when it starts.
    • In charge of keeping food storage areas clean, tidy, and organized.
    • As one of the core leadership team, this position will cross-train in the basics of the cafe and retail/gift shop, and will sometimes be manager on duty for the day; closing tills at night and the on duty leadership person to whom employees can come with questions.
