Behavioral Health Director oversees the study and treatment of patients with emotional, mental, or psychological disorders. Develops, implements, and updates strategic initiatives, programs, and services. Being a Behavioral Health Director manages and directs the operations of behavioral health services. Uses knowledge of behavioral health research and trends to ensure the department's practices are up-to-date and effective. Additionally, Behavioral Health Director establishes training programs and supports and supervises staff. Ensures all behavioral health operations comply with clinical guidelines and regulations. Requires an advanced degree in psychology or related field. Typically reports to top management. The Behavioral Health Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Behavioral Health Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     As the Director of Education, you will play a vital role in providing all resident and patients with a safe, structured and therapeutic environment. This full-time opportunity offers 40 hours per week, full benefits, and a convenient day shift schedule.


    Lighthouse Care Center of Augusta is an 80-bed psychiatric and addictive disease hospital for children, adolescents, and adults. Nestled in the shade of the ancient trees of Augusta, Ga., Lighthouse Care Center is located not far from the Savannah River and ensures privacy and anonymity, enabling the patient to concentrate on recovery.


    As a member of the facility management team, the Director of Education works to ensure 24-hour a day management of the education and therapeutic milieu for all programs as well as oversees the education department and employees.

    Job Duties/Responsibilities:
    • Maintaining school accreditation and creating a safe and secure learning environment, which fosters the academic and therapeutic growth of the students; ensuring school programming and structure is consistent.
    • Continually assessing the quality of instruction through classroom visits, weekly faculty meetings and review of student progress
    • Maintaining records of all educational testing and curriculum used, as well as school personnel records in full compliance with State Education Requirements
    • Attending and providing updates for patient treatment team meetings to provide patient/resident weekly progress reports for the education department; printing patients’ report cards and mailing copies of completed report cards to parents, caseworkers, and probation officers
    • Serving as Educational Representative for Business Development marketing in schools, organizations, and individual’s interest in Lighthouse Care Center of Augusta’s learning center

    Qualifications:
    Director of Education Job Requirements:
    • Master’s Degree required
    • Three years’ experience in education, social services, or related field
    • Two years’ experience in program management, staff hiring, training, scheduling, evaluation, disciplinary actions, and program and staff development
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
    • Must possess a valid Driver’s License
