Bioinformatician, DNA Methylation Analysis: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced bioinformatician with a strong background in DNA methylation analysis to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing bioinformatic pipelines to analyze large-scale DNA methylation data from a variety of experimental sources, including next-generation sequencing data.
Responsibilities
- Creating predictive algorithms via various machine learning and artificial intelligence tools (e.g., elastic net, linear regression, SVM, random forest, etc.). Understanding of AutoML tools is a plus.
- Performing statistical analyses which include but are not limited to: power analysis, clinical trial comparisons, multivariate analyses, and statistical assumption testing (e.g. non-linear and linear assumptions).
- Developing and implementing bioinformatic pipelines for DNA methylation analysis, including preprocessing, quality control, and statistical analysis of methylation array data.
- Understanding of best practices for version control (e.g., CI/CD, Github, etc.)
- Improving data infrastructure for future data analysis
- Collaborating with laboratory staff to develop high throughput data processing and analysis capability
- Analyzing data from clinical trials and research initiatives
Additional responsibilities include:
- Interpreting and communicating results to team members and external collaborators
- Staying up-to-date with the latest methods and technologies in DNA methylation analysis
- Participating in the development and maintenance of in-house software and databases
- Communicating/presenting experimental data effectively and regularly to others during project meetings and scientific reviews
- Assisting in the review of interim/final reports prior to transmission to other groups
- Establishing project milestones and ensuring that the resources assigned are adequate to meet program objectives
- Monitoring new data from public databases and cleaning loaded data to satisfy control criteria
- Keeping current on applicable scientific literature
- Creating and validating downstream bioinformatics workflows
- Ability to develop and program bioinformatic software that implements and measures analytical rules o the project in question
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computational biology, or a related field
- Strong programming skills in languages such as R or Python
- Experience with DNA methylation analysis tools and methods, including bisulfite sequencing data analysis
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience with scientific writing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with next-generation sequencing data analysis
- Experience with database design and management
- Experience with machine learning techniques for data analysis
- Experience with generating markdown documents for code review in R and/or Python.
- Experience with high-performance computing (HPC) environments such as Linux/Bash
