Biologist jobs in Kalamazoo, MI

Michigan Agricultural Research, an agricultural research firm, is hiring an Assistant Biologist position in our Albion, MI location. This position is responsible for greenhouse, laboratory and field trial-related duties as directed by the Lead Biologist.

Duties will include:

• Evaluating the efficacy of agricultural products across a large range of crops in a field and greenhouse setting.
• Performing nematode extraction and entomology lab and field assessments.
• Planting/maintaining crops in greenhouses.
• Maintaining daily communications of project activities to the lead biologists.

Skills desired:

• College courses in plant, agricultural, or biological science, or equivalent work experience.
• Proficient in basic computer skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Excels at operating in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize multiple tasks.

Other requirements:

• Candidate should possess a current driver’s license as well as a clean driving record.
• Able to lift and carry 50 pounds.
• Able to work outdoors for sustained periods of time.
• Able to move about in agricultural settings, including, but not limited to, walking distances up to 1/2 mile at a time, traversing uneven ground, kneeling, stooping, crouching, stepping over rows of crops.
• Able to wear required protective gear on the body and face, such as coveralls, gloves, and respirator masks.

Job Type: Hourly/Non-exempt/Full-time

Salary: $21.00 - $26.00 per hour DOE
