Biomedical Engineering Director directs and coordinates biomedical equipment service operations that provide lifecycle management of biomedical clinical and research equipment including safety testing, repair, maintenance, and user support. Establishes standards and procedures for equipment maintenance, testing, calibration, documentation, and inventory processes. Being a Biomedical Engineering Director provides technical leadership and develops applicable training and resources for medical staff to ensure correct and safe operations of all equipment and devices. Works with vendors to maintain up-to-date information about new products and equipment upgrades. Additionally, Biomedical Engineering Director supports the equipment needs of all specialty areas including Radiology, Clinical Pathology, Cardiology, Respiratory Therapy, and others. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director or head of a unit/department. The Biomedical Engineering Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Biomedical Engineering Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     Responsibilities
    Police Officer 1: To protect lives and property by conducting foot and mobile security patrols, enforcing parking and traffic regulations, rendering emergency services, investigating minor crimes, and making arrests when necessary. Provides a limited range of police services. No experience required

    Police Officer 2: To provide a full range of police services by enforcing state, federal, and local laws and campus regulations through active foot patrols and mobile patrols. One year of experience in law enforcement work required.

    Police Officer 3: To provide a full range of police services with a primary emphasis on enforcement of laws, investigations of crimes and accidents, and providing emergency services and crime prevention programs; may serve as assistant shift supervisor by overseeing the full range of police services on an assigned shift. Two years of experience in law enforcement work required.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    Two years of experience in law enforcement work.

    SUBSTITUTIONS:
    College training will substitute for the required experience on the basis of thirty semester hours for one year of experience.

    NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
    Must have attained eighteenth birthday at time of appointment.

    An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.

    May be required to possess a valid Louisiana driver's license at time of appointment.

    For some positions, evidence of POST certification must be submitted at the time of the application.

    May be required to qualify annually with a firearm.

    For some positions, applicant must be eligible for bond.

    NOTE:
    All classified jobs in State service with police officer and wildlife enforcement titles qualify as law enforcement.
    Jobs outside State service that will qualify as law enforcement are those performed while commissioned with the power of arrest.
    Military police in the armed services are law enforcement; security/guard duty is NOT qualifying.

    Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.
