Biomedical Engineering Director directs and coordinates biomedical equipment service operations that provide lifecycle management of biomedical clinical and research equipment including safety testing, repair, maintenance, and user support. Establishes standards and procedures for equipment maintenance, testing, calibration, documentation, and inventory processes. Being a Biomedical Engineering Director provides technical leadership and develops applicable training and resources for medical staff to ensure correct and safe operations of all equipment and devices. Works with vendors to maintain up-to-date information about new products and equipment upgrades. Additionally, Biomedical Engineering Director supports the equipment needs of all specialty areas including Radiology, Clinical Pathology, Cardiology, Respiratory Therapy, and others. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director or head of a unit/department. The Biomedical Engineering Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Biomedical Engineering Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     The Platform Engineering team is dedicated to evolving both our products and our modes of customer engagement for the dynamic financial services landscape.     About the role:

    The Development Director - Enabling Interfaces will be responsible for development and delivery including Developer Portal, Marketplace, Onboarding, Dashboard, Billing, and Deployment views.The Platform Delivery team works closely in conjunction with the Product Management, Enablement, Architecture, and Platform Services teams to build a platform for exciting new products and services. You will lead a team of developers and engineers who are responsible for designing, developing, and delivering these shared capabilities, ensuring they meet functional and non-functional requirements such as scalability, reliability, and performance.

    What you will be doing:

    This role is highly challenging, yet satisfying, and provides a fantastic opportunity to lead the platform journey at FIS:

    • Designs and develops software product applications for market sale or large-scale proprietary software applications for internal use.
    • Manages full software development lifecycle including testing, implementation, and auditing.
    • Performs product design, bug verification and beta support which may require research and analysis.
    • Resolves critical issues and contributes to the business unit/area development.
    • Manages work efforts of managers/supervisors with responsibility for hiring, firing, performance appraisals and pay reviews.
    • Identifies and allocates technical resources, e.g., developers and engineers to client projects within Development.
    • Forecasts resource needs based on an analysis of both portfolio and projected client spend.
    • Maximizes both utilization and profitability of assigned team of resources' billable time.
    • Ensures applications meet appropriate quality and security standards.
    • Adheres to the departmental application development and client delivery process standards.
    • Provides input on product direction to product managers.
    • Coordinates with industry compliance consultants and product managers to verify applications meet regulatory compliance.
    • Ensures proper application of technology.
    • Wears a customer hat during development of solutions.
    • Work closely with the UX test to ensure an industry leading experience.
    • Develop and execute a strategic plan for the platform's development, including timelines, resource requirements, and deliverables.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, marketing, and engineering teams, to ensure seamless integration and delivery of the platform's core functionality and third-party services.
    • Develop and manage the marketplace where third-party providers can publish additional services and applications.
    • Build and lead a highly motivated and skilled development team, ensuring the team has the necessary resources, tools, and support to deliver high-quality work on time and within budget.

    • 10 years of experience with minimum of 5 years of development management experience in a leadership role
    • Proven track record of managing and delivering complex fintech projects and initiatives
    • Significant knowledge of software development and delivery pipelines, software testing, databases and technical documentation.
    • Experience with agile and scrum methodologies and DevOps environments with high degree of automation of CI/CD pipelines, build promotions and code quality testing
    • Skill in project management, organization, communications, analytical and people skills
    • Skill in leading, supervising and managing effectively under pressure
    • Skill in development and delivery utilizing the public cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP)
    • Ability to be comfortable interacting with executive level clients
    • Ability to analyze client's business needs and determine related information services support
    • Ability to maintain positive working relationship with clients
    • Ability to manage multiple projects, activities, and problem areas
    • Ability to delegate projects to qualified subordinates as appropriate
    • Ability to lead, direct and manage effectively

    • Knowledge of Microservices Architecture and design, REST APIs, Security, Testing, and deployments in high throughput environments
    • Advanced knowledge of JavaScript frameworks such as Angular 6 , TypeScript, NodeJS, NestJS, and Material design.
    • Familiarity with monorepo based development toolsets such as Nx.
    • Expertise in developing Reactive Microservices using frameworks, like Akka
    • Hands-on expertise of common industry frameworks like Spring Boot and Cloud, Rabbit MQ or Kafka, and API Gateways
    • Experience of working in DevOps environments with high degree of automation of CI/CD pipelines, build promotions and code quality testing
    • Expertise of using Kubernetes and Dockers for deployments in development, QA, and Production
    • Experience with Cloud native databases such as PostgreSQL, CosmosDB etc.
    • Knowledge of database architecture and design of RDBMS, NOSQL databases.
    • Proficiency in business modeling and requirements definition disciplines through Unified Modeling Language (UML), use cases, etc.
    • Ability to estimate work effort for project sub-plans for very large to small projects and ensure the project is successfully completed
    • Other related duties assigned as needed
    • Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to present to all levels of the organization

    Educational Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience. Post-graduate education preferred.

    • Knowledge of FIS' products and services.
    • Knowledge of financial services industry or FinTechs.
    • Knowledge and experience with Banking or Card as-a-Service platforms.

    FIS is committed to providing its employees with an exciting career opportunity and competitive compensation. The pay range for this full-time position is $157,330.00 - $264,320.00 and reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position based on the posted role, level, and location. Within the range, actual individual starting pay is determined additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Any changes in work location will also impact actual individual starting pay.
