Biomedical Engineering Director directs and coordinates biomedical equipment service operations that provide lifecycle management of biomedical clinical and research equipment including safety testing, repair, maintenance, and user support. Establishes standards and procedures for equipment maintenance, testing, calibration, documentation, and inventory processes. Being a Biomedical Engineering Director provides technical leadership and develops applicable training and resources for medical staff to ensure correct and safe operations of all equipment and devices. Works with vendors to maintain up-to-date information about new products and equipment upgrades. Additionally, Biomedical Engineering Director supports the equipment needs of all specialty areas including Radiology, Clinical Pathology, Cardiology, Respiratory Therapy, and others. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director or head of a unit/department.     • Performs budget duties to include budget preparation, budget-related requests and management of funds and fund control points;
    • Develops, formulates, and provides essential data for annual budget forecasts;
    • Communicates with local servicing finance offices in maintaining and reconciling budget allocations;
    • Prepares contracting packages;
    • Schedules, monitors, and reviews all outside contracted services;
    • Evaluates assigned contracts and reports performance to appropriate medical center staff/leaders;
    • Enters requests for purchase orders (VA Form 2237) for all service contracts, parts and supplies;
    • Reviews, certifies and logs vendor invoices and payments;
    • Performs vendor coordination of equipment and services;
    • Composes routing correspondence for dissemination;
    • Maintains schedules and arranges for meetings to include reservations for meeting rooms and notifying participants;
    • Prepares overtime authorization requests, personnel work schedules, and a variety of other documents;
    • Provides ongoing training and assistance regarding office policies and procedures to all staff;
    • Ensures all personnel have been instructed in and follow operational, safety, personnel and conduct requirements;
    • Prepares documentation for performance plans, assessments, competencies and related Human Resources activities (i.e. hiring request, position description reviews, etc.);
    • Provides for full administration of reporting, evaluation and requirements associated with the accreditation of the Medical Center;
    • Administers the internal review, quality, and productivity initiatives for the Biomedical Engineering Service;
    • Performs other directly related duties as assigned.
