    Position Summary:

    Manages and directs the Engineering department. Ensures efficient delivery of Quality Driven Cost Effective Processes, Manufacturing Plans in the ERP System, Continuous Cost Improvement, Project Coordination, Product Documentation, and NC Programs to internal and external customers as needed. Develops and implements policies and procedures for the team.


    Essential Job Functions:

    • Provide daily supervision for Manufacturing Engineering and NC Programming teams.
    • Ensure appropriate workload for fulltime/supplemental employees to meet the needs of customers and manage/approve individual overtime. 
    • Ensure adequate training to minimize risk of skill shortcomings in each team within the Engineering department.
    • Develop and implement processes and systems aimed at improving safety, efficiency, productivity and quality of product flow in conjunction with AS9100 and OSHA standards.
    • Identification of upcoming and strategic technical skill and equipment needs and appropriate training or justification of new hires or new equipment and software to accommodate the needs.
    • Assess and document the individual and team performance of all operation team members with appropriate action taken to reward or address behavior on a timely basis.
    • Provide input towards the department budget for capital and expense.
    • Create and maintain a department roadmap to project a growth plan for staff and resources to meet the business unit’s development outlook.
    • Benchmark the capabilities of the staff and equipment to other engineering teams at other corporations.
    • Ensure appropriate engineering support to individual projects through partnership with the project management, operations, and quality teams. 
    • Provide quote detail and engineering input to project management for proposals to customers.
    • Interface with customers to understand requirements for all aspects of the product’s production.
    • Report quality issues and provide solutions to management, the quality team, and customers as required. 
    • Meet or exceed project engineering projections including cost, schedule, and quality with high customer satisfaction.
    • Provide management leadership through clear written and oral communication internally and with the customer

    Requirements

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing or related technical discipline; or eight years of related manufacturing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Industry specific experience preferred.  
    • Able to work cross functionally with project managers, materials procurement, design, process development, and customers. 
    • Able to build and manage a team of diverse individuals at a variety of skill levels. 
    • Strong oral and written communication skills.  
    • Ability to operate manufacturing software applications and supporting applications to enhance productivity and quality of work. 
    • Possesses hands-on, self-starting attitude with strong interpersonal, integration, business, and technical skills. 
    • Able to multi-task and organize work to meet objectives.
