Biomedical Engineering Technician delivers biomedical equipment services that provide safety testing, repair, maintenance, and user support of biomedical clinical and research equipment. Assembles, installs, repairs, and maintains a variety of medical equipment. Being a Biomedical Engineering Technician tests the functionality of equipment and takes accuracy, sensitivity, and selectivity measurements to calibrate devices. Coordinates with medical staff and vendors to troubleshoot problems, resolve equipment malfunctions and enable new devices. Additionally, Biomedical Engineering Technician supports medical staff with equipment operations training. Typically requires an associate degree. Typically requires Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Biomedical Engineering Technician works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job.     S&ME seeks an individual to join our Construction Services team in reporting to our Nashville, Tennessee office as a Construction Materials Engineering Technician and help us provide engineering solutions to our clients. This position is based out of Clarksville, Tennessee.


    What You Will Do:

    As a Construction Materials Engineering Technician, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and integrity of construction projects. Your daily field testing and observations will guarantee compliance with industry standards and project specifications. From reviewing plans to documenting field activities, your contributions will be crucial in ensuring that structures are built correctly. While the job primarily involves outdoor work, your dedication will be rewarded with the satisfaction of seeing projects come to life.

    • Reviewing plans and specifications for construction sites.
    • Documenting field activities, observations, and testing results.
    • Utilizing Metafield® or similar systems for data management.
    • Calibrating equipment to industry standards.
    • Conducting Special Inspection observations per the International Building Code (IBC).

    Who You Are:

    • You have a high school diploma/GED
    • You have a minimum of 2 years of experience in construction testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials
    • You have effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language
    • You can complete data entry into multiple software applications on a smart device
    • You have effective math skills with a basic understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure
    • You have one or more active certification(s):
      • American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician
      • NICET: Construction Materials Testing (Asphalt, Concrete, Soils)
      • International Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils)
      • DOT Certifications in the fields of Aggregate, Density, Asphalt, and Concrete

    Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

    You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as:

    • Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions
    • Walking over rough and uneven terrain
    • Standing up to 8 hours a day, up to 12 hours on occasion
    • Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs, (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
    • Maneuver field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground and around active construction sites
    • Traveling out-of-town (typically overnight) for assignments as necessary
    • Working outside of normal business hours when necessary
