Biomedical Engineering Technician delivers biomedical equipment services that provide safety testing, repair, maintenance, and user support of biomedical clinical and research equipment. Assembles, installs, repairs, and maintains a variety of medical equipment. Being a Biomedical Engineering Technician tests the functionality of equipment and takes accuracy, sensitivity, and selectivity measurements to calibrate devices. Coordinates with medical staff and vendors to troubleshoot problems, resolve equipment malfunctions and enable new devices. Additionally, Biomedical Engineering Technician supports medical staff with equipment operations training. Typically requires an associate degree. Typically requires Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Biomedical Engineering Technician works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned):
- Support Sonar Dome Pressurization System overhaul and training (SPOT) for U.S. Navy Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) components.
- Assess the material readiness of the Sonar Dome Pressurization System (SDPS), overhaul the system, repair and or replace selected system components, train ship’s force in system operation, conduct valve maintenance and installation methods and lastly perform system evaluation, testing, alignment and calibration as required.
- Revise and prepare HM&E logistics documentation, including Technical Manuals, Maintenance Requirements Cards (MRCs), parts lists, etc.
- Provide subject matter expertise to equipment technical assistance teams in the assessment, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of shipboard fire detection equipment.
