Biomedical Engineering Technician delivers biomedical equipment services that provide safety testing, repair, maintenance, and user support of biomedical clinical and research equipment. Assembles, installs, repairs, and maintains a variety of medical equipment. Being a Biomedical Engineering Technician tests the functionality of equipment and takes accuracy, sensitivity, and selectivity measurements to calibrate devices. Coordinates with medical staff and vendors to troubleshoot problems, resolve equipment malfunctions and enable new devices. Additionally, Biomedical Engineering Technician supports medical staff with equipment operations training. Typically requires an associate degree. Typically requires Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Biomedical Engineering Technician works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job.     • Perform Contracting Officer Representative duties on assigned contracts and assist team members.
    • Develop long range planning schedules, Scopes of Work, Cost Estimates and technical reviews on contract project proposals and modifications.
    • Advise customers on applicability and application of contracting efforts for installation customer funded projects.
    • Effectively communicate with contractors, government agencies and partners within the assigned areas of emphasis.
    • Collect required data from assigned contracts for dissemination to government agencies and partners.
    • Liaise efforts of work between contractor and government agencies.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.     Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience working with facility infrastructure and operations; experience in applying maintenance and repair to the service utilities such as water, wastewater, electric, or natural gas; experience evaluating and reviewing scope of work, on-site plans, and sketches for projects involving repair, maintenance and capitol upgrades of facility systems; and experience performing final inspections to ensure work meets regulatory requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).

    Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
