Biostatistician conducts statistical studies to generate data and insights used to innovate, plan and support improved healthcare outcomes and processes. Prepares analysis plans to ensure the best statistical methods are developed and utilized. Being a Biostatistician writes specifications for files, consistency checks, tables, and calculations used to collect and analyzes data from a variety of sources. Interprets analyses and prepares exhibits for reports and presentations. Additionally, Biostatistician interfaces with non technical users to assist with data interpretation and understanding of results. Proficient with statistical computer applications like SAS and R. Typically requires a master's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Biostatistician occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     What You Will Do :

    We are currently searching for a Biostatistician to support Biostatistics Consulting Services for the NIH. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Bethesda, MD.
    • Provide expert and strategic statistical technical support, guidance, education, and advice on advancing projects through nonclinical and clinical development.
    • Participate in and contribute to different aspects of the research study through study planning, decision-making, problem-solving and strategic analysis.
    • Provide written guidance to Government staff and clinical trial investigators on the appropriate statistical methods to employ to accurately interpret clinical trial results as well as research strategy, statistical protocol design and data analysis issues.
    • Evaluate, provide technical feedback, and make recommendations regarding the design of proposed studies and milestones using sound statistical analysis methodology to ensure studies are sufficiently powered and controlled with experimental and statistical rigor that will lend a high degree of confidence in study results.
    • Develop and implement new research and study designs using appropriate statistical methods.
    • Design and review nonclinical animal research plans and/or analysis of nonclinical animal research results for Investigational New Drug (IND)-enabling studies or clinical studies.
    • Provide statistical support on nonclinical and/or clinical development projects.
    • Develop and review statistical analysis plans and data validations plans.
    • Assist CTU (Clinical Trials Unit) staff in preparing investigational and research study protocols, which may include designing adaptive clinical trial protocols.
    • Consult with staff on the application of statistical methods and statistical packages that will best meet the key study scientific aims of the study.
    • Perform complex statistical analyses, prepare, and review statistical analysis plans, provide detailed specifications for electronic analysis files, and quality check statistical analyses including tables and figures.
    • Perform data cleaning identifying and correcting data entry errors and or missing values and data transformation creating and categorizing variables and imputing data.
    • Assist in the writing of statistical sections of study reports.
    • Providing statistical interpretation of published results or critique of scientific proposals.
    • Develop training strategies and education materials using plain language; implement training activities for internal and external researchers.
    • Research and analyze new developments in biostatistical methods and applications. Interpret and perform biostatistical/statistical analyses of datasets, as needed.


    What You Will Need :
    • PhD Degree
    • A minimum of ten (10) years of overall biostatistics experience, with at least five (5) of which has focused on areas such as clinical trial study design and development, development and review of statistical analysis or data validation plans or providing statistical analysis and support.
    • Familiar with clinical trial protocols, IND studies or processes.
    • Ability to apply a wide range of complex analytical and statistical theories, principles, and practices.
    • Knowledgeable in the areas of statistical theory and methodology used for biomedical research or statistical computing across multiple computing environments.

    • Maintain knowledge of current developments within the fields of statistical and applied analysis enabling the development of new techniques using valid statistical procedures and assessment criteria.
    • Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills.
    • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
    • Knowledgeable in scientific data analysis, data visualization and statistical modelling techniques.
    • Experience using R or Python.
