Job Summary:
As the Accountant/Bookkeeper, you will work directly with the executive team assuring that invoices are processed and paid on time, and receivables are posted payments are properly recorded, statements are reconciled in a timely manner and documents are provided to the outside accounting firm. You will be responsible for A/P, A/R recordkeeping, Payroll, meetings with sales staff, processing documents quickly and efficiently. To be successful in this role, you should be well-organized, have great time management skills, be a self-starter, and have excellent QuickBooks experience.
What you’ll be doing:
- Receivables, ensure payments are processed and posted in a timely manner.
- Collections, Follow-up on payments due and update sales staff of concerns.
- Payables, develops guidelines for proper handling and coding of invoices to maintain general ledger expense account and inventory records.
- Process payments via ACH, bill pay, and checks.
- Reconciles accounts payable, accounts receivable totals, and general ledger with other applicable records from subsidiary vendors, sub-contractors, etc.
- Ensures employer identification numbers or social security numbers have been collected from all vendors for them to prepare and submit 1099s.
- Follow good standard accounting practices.
- Reconcile bank accounts.
- Share information as needed with the executive team and outside accounting firm.
- Ensures proper maintenance, filing, and storage of records.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
What you’ll need:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and QuickBooks.
- Thorough understanding of standard accounting principles.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business Administration is preferred, H.S. diploma is required.
- Five years of experience in Accounting, A/P, A/R, Payroll, General Ledger, and account reconciliation.
- Able to sit at a desk working on a computer for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
