Bookkeeping Manager manages and oversees all the bookkeeping staff. Responsible for the practices and procedures to ensure timely and accurate records and reports. Being a Bookkeeping Manager provides assistance to other financial function: budgets, payroll, etc. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Bookkeeping Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Bookkeeping Manager typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes. Work Experience:
Previous experience working for a Federally funded nutrition program, such as WIC.
Experience working in a fast-paced office setting, conducting a wide range of tasks to support program operations.
Experience working in a government setting.
Familiarity with New York State systems and specific terminology.
Job Duties:
Basic bookkeeping, accounting, and financial recordkeeping.
Computing, classifying, and recording numerical data.
Performing routine calculations, posting, and verification of financial data to maintain accounting records.
Verifying the accuracy of figures, calculations, and postings of business transactions.
Preferred Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Detail-oriented, producing accurate and timely work.
Ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
Misc. Information:
Work Hours and Location: 8 hours daily, Monday Friday; 9 AM to 5 PM.
Transportation: CDTA bus routes: 22, 524, 922, and 923.
There are free and paid parking options available at this location. The monthly costs for the paid parking options include $55 for a covered space, and $45 for a space on the roof.
Temporary employees need to include a check or money order (no cash) for $13 (made out to NYSDOH) in order to receive an identification card.
Interview will be conducted via WebEx.
Training: Training will be provided.
