Bookkeeping Manager manages and oversees all the bookkeeping staff. Responsible for the practices and procedures to ensure timely and accurate records and reports. Being a Bookkeeping Manager provides assistance to other financial function: budgets, payroll, etc. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Bookkeeping Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Bookkeeping Manager typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes. Bookkeeping Assistant position requires providing clerical or technical support to the clients for the Business in the preparation of the accounting and payroll procedures for the paying clients. The bookkeeping assistant is responsible for entering data into the Bookkeeping software or system and into the company excel spreadsheet for tracking expenses and income. They record incoming checks and cash, performs filing and clerical duties, and prepare reports (i.e. IRS 941 and TWC reports due quarterly – IRS 940 and Franchise taxes due annually) Bookkeeping Assistant keeps basic understanding of accounts receivable and accounts Payable systems. They gather knowledge in accounting software (i.e. QuickBooks). Word and Excel knowledge is the very basic for this position. Communication skill both verbal and written, and mailing is the minimum skill needed to gather for this position. Some companies use fund-based accounting system so experience with a fund-based system will be an extra advantage for an aspiring candidate.
Responsibilities
- Bookkeeping assistant enters data into the QuickBooks on a monthly basis
- Bookkeeping assistant records all incoming checks and cash.
- Bookkeeping assistant performs filing and clerical duties.
- They will prepare and process payroll for clients by Check or Direct deposit and prepare IRS 941/940/TWC/ Franchise report.
- Will communicate with clients by mail/ video chat or physically.
- Qualifications
- Candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or working on a degree.
- Applicants should have experience in bookkeeping duties or be a fast leaner.
- Education can be substituted for experience working with accounting software and work experience working with an accountant or accounting firm.
