Bookstore Director - Higher Ed. directs and oversees all activities related to the operation of a university/college bookstore. Purchases new books, coordinates the sale of used books, orders new inventory as needed. Being a Bookstore Director - Higher Ed. ensures that the textbook inventory is aligned with the needs and class schedule of the students. Hires, trains, and supervises employees. Additionally, Bookstore Director - Higher Ed. prepares and manages the staff work schedule so that the store is adequately staffed. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a senior institutional officer. The Bookstore Director - Higher Ed. manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Position Summary: We are recruiting a talented fundraising professional to lead the advancement efforts of our organization. The Advancement Director is responsible for the cultivation and growth of all non-government revenue sources including corporate relations, grants, prospects, annual giving, third-party fundraisers, special campaigns, planned giving, events, communications, and strategic partnerships. This position will work in partnership with the Executive Director as it relates to relationships with major donors.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
1. Bachelor’s degree preferred
2. 3-5 years of experience in a nonprofit fundraising role or sales
3. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and human relations skills including effective intercultural communication, and cultural humility
4. Computer literacy and working knowledge of word-processing, spreadsheet, and database software
5. Passionate about the mission of the CAC and able to effectively promote the mission with supporters
6. Strong organization skills - ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, set goals, and develop systems for achieving goals
Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
1. Experience with creating and executing comprehensive communications and branding strategies to enhance the visibility of our organization
2. Ability to recognize and implement good design in regards to marketing and communication
3. Nonprofit storytelling knowledge and ability
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Development Activities
1) Develop an annual advancement plan with ambitious yet realistic key performance indicators in collaboration with the Executive Director and lead execution of the plan
2) Oversee management of all fundraising functions including planned giving, corporate partnerships, non-governmental grants, mail and on-line appeals and events. More specifically:
a) Manage relationships with existing donors to secure increasingly generous support
b) Work collaboratively with the Executive Director on major gifts
c) Lead event preparation including the identification of volunteer needs, securing of donations, identification of committee members, sponsors, attendees, etc.
d) Establish a plan for the cultivation of prospective donors into current donors
e) Solicit, thank, and inform donors in a timely and personal manner
2) Join the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) or another similar organization and participate for purpose of professional development
3) Over time lead the organization in the pursuit of new and diverse revenue streams
4) Overall responsibility for donor management system
Community Outreach Activities
a) Seek out new external partnerships and third-party fundraisers
b) Represent the agency at community events as requested
c) Work alongside of communications team to ensure a united front on messaging into the community
Other Duties
a) Serve on Leadership Team
b) Serve on Advancement and Communications board committee
c) Foster a sense of belonging and ensure an environment where employees and clients feel respected and valued for their unique traits and contributions
