Bookstore Director - Higher Ed. directs and oversees all activities related to the operation of a university/college bookstore. Purchases new books, coordinates the sale of used books, orders new inventory as needed. Being a Bookstore Director - Higher Ed. ensures that the textbook inventory is aligned with the needs and class schedule of the students. Hires, trains, and supervises employees. Additionally, Bookstore Director - Higher Ed. prepares and manages the staff work schedule so that the store is adequately staffed. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a senior institutional officer. The Bookstore Director - Higher Ed. manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. To be a Bookstore Director - Higher Ed. typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required.   • RESPONSIBILITIES: The Bookstore Manager is responsible for the effective and efficient operation
    of the College bookstore and Campus Services department. Duties include
    procurement of educational resource materials, merchandise, supplies,
    inventory management, customer service and supervision of Campus
    Services Technician, Bookstore Assistant and student workers.


    QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree preferred. Previous procurement and supervisory
    experience desirable. Excellent customer service and communication skills
    required. Occasional lifting and carrying of books and materials from 25-50
    pounds. Ability to reach above shoulder and periods of time spent sitting,
    standing, walking, kneeling, bending and stooping. Ability to occasionally
    climb ladders.

    LOCATION: Iola, Kansas Campus

    SALARY: $36 – 40,000/year based upon education and experience. Excellent benefit
    package available including paid single medical and dental insurance,
    KPERS, generous leave time and tuition benefits for employee and
    immediate family members.

    STARTING DATE: Negotiable.
