Position Summary:
As a Breast Sonographer, you will play a crucial role in the early detection and diagnosis of breast abnormalities. Your primary responsibility will be performing high-quality ultrasound examinations of the breast, providing accurate and detailed images for interpretation by radiologists. In addition, assisting the radiologist with ultrasound imaging during interventional breast examinations. This role requires exceptional technical proficiency, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to patient care and safety.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Proficiently utilizes the Radnet. Scheduling, Powerchart modules of Cerner for patient information entry/review.

Prepare patients for procedures, explaining the process and addressing any concerns they may have. Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the examination, addressing any discomfort or complications.

Conduct breast ultrasound examinations using specialized equipment and techniques.

Position patients appropriately and apply ultrasound gel to ensure optimal image quality.

Operates all equipment with complete knowledge and ability to obtain optimum quality images. Utilize sound judgment and technical expertise to adjust equipment settings and optimize images.

Ability to review prior breast/radiology images and/or reports and correlate relevant findings on current study and adheres to ACR breast ultrasound standards in regard to labelling and measurements.

Requirements:

Certification as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) with a specialization in breast sonography preferred; other registries a plus/benefit.

Proven experience as a Breast Sonographer in a clinical setting is preferred.

Strong knowledge of breast anatomy, pathology, and diagnostic criteria is preferred.

BLS required within six months of employment.

Previous ultrasound experience required. Willingness to learn breast ultrasound applications will be considered.

Must obtain registry from ARDMS or equivalent with Breast certification within two years of employment and maintain this registry/certification annually.

Typing and basic computer skills required.
