Budget Director directs and controls an organization's budgeting and financial forecasting activities. Leads the budgeting process for annual, quarterly, and monthly budget development. Being a Budget Director develops budgetary policies and guidelines to meet short and long-term financial goals. Establishes processes to incorporate past financial results into budget development. Additionally, Budget Director monitors and analyzes performance against budgets. Develops and implements tools and reporting used for planning, forecasting, monitoring, and decision support. Presents budget data to senior management and/or board. May require a MBA. Typically reports to top management. The Budget Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Prepares and negotiates clinical research budgets for numerous research projects. This position is responsible for working closely with clinical research sponsors and legal teams, to ensure study fee schedules or contracts meet feasibility and requirements of the hospital. Organizes clinical trial budget, income, and expense documents and enters information into budget software systems as application. Is responsible to make sure timely invoices are sent to sponsors and works closely with research leadership to maintain financial integrity.
- Require a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a clinical setting, medical auditing, case management, healthcare insurance, and/or relevant experience.
- Require a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Healthcare, or research-related field.
- Prefer prior experience in clinical research (industry/pharmaceutical and/or federal grants), billing compliance, research contract management, billing, coding, revenue recognition/integrity.
- Prefer knowledge of healthcare compliance and federal regulations related to clinical research, research regulatory environment.
- Prefer experience in Excel (V-Lookups, Pivot Tables, Index, etc.) and Clinical Trial Management System software with financial tracking capabilities.
- Prefer proficiency with Microsoft Office - Word, Outlook, etc.
- Prefer excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Prefer strong reading comprehension skills in order to understand research protocol.
