Position Summary
Bishop Guertin High School is currently seeking a highly motivated, team oriented, and mechanically skilled individual to join our community as Building & Grounds Maintenance Manager. In this role this position will play a crucial role in providing a safe, clean environment conducive to learning within a school setting. This position will be responsible for all aspects of maintenance and operation of the physical plant and property, and will oversee a team of maintenance, grounds staff as well as also coordinate with and oversee outside vendors who perform cleaning services, repairs, or other services needed to ensure the proper maintenance and operation of the school.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Maintenance Coordination and Oversight:

• Review and complete work orders, assigning tasks to maintenance staff as needed.
• Coordinate all maintenance & grounds department staff, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
• Oversee all summer workers, work orders, and related assignments.
• Perform minor and routine maintenance activities to maintain the building.
• Develops maintenance policies and procedures.

Building and Grounds Management:

• Maintain the overall condition of the building and grounds, ensuring cleanliness and safety.
• Coordinate with relevant authorities for health and safety reviews.
• Direct contracted workers in various areas of the school building.
• Orders tools, supplies, and equipment.

Budgeting and Planning:

• Recommend budget items, contributing to the development of an annual maintenance budget.
• Recommend upgrades, overhauls, and other changes to major systems and equipment.
• Actively participate in projects (e.g. remodeling or renovations).
• Serve as a member of the Building & Grounds Committee.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years related experience, 1 year of which should be in a demonstrated Leadership / Supervisory capacity. (Certification in Facilities Management or equivalent is a plus)
• Experience in facility or property maintenance or a related field such as electrical, plumbing, or carpentry.
• Knowledge of occupational safety and health regulations.
• Solid understanding of the utilization and care of materials and equipment used in maintenance activities.
• Strong technical knowledge of all building systems (electrical, heating, plumbing, etc.)
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to use basic tools for maintenance and safely handle cleaning chemicals and refuse.
• Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.
• Adaptability to changing circumstances and ability to work with frequent interruptions.
• Initiative and willingness to take direction.
• Familiarity with school procedures and systems.
• Computer literate with capability in email, MS Office/G-Suite and related communication tools.
