Building and Grounds Supervisor supervises and trains building and grounds maintenance staff. Oversees landscaping activities, the maintenance of sidewalks and parking areas, and the removal of trash and snow. Being a Building and Grounds Supervisor maintains and monitors the operation of all utility systems such as heating, ventilating and air conditioning. May be responsible for the housekeeping staff. Additionally, Building and Grounds Supervisor, a level I supervisor is considered a working supervisor with little authority for personnel actions. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. Has no authority for staff actions. Generally has a minimum of 2 years experience as an individual contributor. TITLE: Maintenance & Grounds Supervisor
Position Description
Our Grounds Crew Supervisor will be responsible for effective management of materials, staff, equipment. Supervisor must have the ability to master the requirements of each of the positions that work in landscape maintenance and snow management. Hours are Monday-Friday 7.30a-4.00p
Essential Functions
Supervises crew of 4-5
Accomplishes staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.
Assist with training and enforcing all safety procedures.
Function as liaison between
Mows, trims, and edges
Land clearing.
Plants grass, trees, shrubs, and flower beds
Prunes shrubs, trees, and evergreens
Applies insecticides, herbicides, and fertilizers.
Removes leaves and litter from grounds.
Repairs fences, gates, walls
Operates lawn mowers, snow blowers, chain saw, leaf blowers, tractor, backhoe, skid steer, and other associated equipment as properly trained.
Assists maintenance mechanics as time allows.

Required Education & Experience
Five years’ experience in grounds maintenance or BS in Project Management (preferred)
Effective communication skills – English verbal, written, and reading comprehension. Spanish speaking a PLUS
Ability to develop strong employee relationships.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
Must be able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position.
Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping, and pulling.
May need to use protective equipment, such as a respirator, gloves, earplugs, eye guards/visors, boots, and hat.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has direct supervisory responsibility.
Job Type: Full-time Benefits
