Business Banking Manager manages a business banking team building and maintaining relationships with clients by providing service and support. Ensures clients have an effective team to help them best understand and use company products. Being a Business Banking Manager builds relationships between themselves, team members, and clients and builds an understanding of clients' business, strategy, and risks. Helps team members provide advice to clients in particularly complex, challenging, or important situations. Additionally, Business Banking Manager ensures the team recommends and sells products such as loans, deposits, and fee-based services to appropriate clients. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Business Banking Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Business Banking Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     The Vice President, Business Banking Manager leads, coordinates, and supervises business banking production in the Winona market. Develops new business and serves as a leader and role model in this area. Makes loans and services accounts dealing in relatively large, complex loans, or those involving greater risk. Understands and completes job responsibilities in accordance with federal and state regulations.


    Essential Functions:

    Business Banker 60%

    • Works in alignment with the Bank’s credit culture and policies
    • Develops strong client relationships and manages Bank’s key accounts functioning as a Business Banker
    • Develops new business and uncovers financial needs by actively calling on existing and prospective clients
    • Analyzes complex financial information and makes funding recommendations
    • Closes loans, opens accounts, and makes intradepartmental referrals
    • Actively participates in outside events and organizations


    Management 30%

    • Supervises the Business Bankers in the Winona market
    • Provides leadership, training, coaching, and guidance to support individual and team performance
    • Coordinates individual and team outreach and business development efforts
    • Manages and assigns area workload
    • Develops and monitors work plans that align with the Bank’s strategic goals
    • Identifies training needs and coordinates training with Senior Lending Manager
    • Develops onboarding plan, assigns and participates in the training of new coworkers 
    • Ensures adherence with federal and state regulations


    Additional Duties and Responsibilities 10%

    • Serves on Bank committees as needed
    • Other job related duties necessary to carry out the responsibilities of this position
    • Participates in internal and external training and development opportunities as required

    Works regularly with clients and co-workers. Occasional contact with trade/professional affiliations and federal/state regulatory agencies. Works regularly with highly confidential business and client information. Occasionally participates in bank events.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    A four-year degree in accounting, finance, business or equivalent is required; advanced degree desirable. Seven years commercial lending experience required; three years management/supervisory experience required. Must possess courteous and professional customer service attitude; excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong management skills; ability to maintain the integrity of highly confidential client and Bank information. Must possess strong computer skills, technical ability to input and retrieve computerized information; strong mathematical skills up to and including statistical analysis; legible handwriting; cross-selling skills. Must be able to deal effectively with time pressures and stress that can change hourly depending on level of activity; highly effective problem solving and technical research skills. Must be a self-starter and independent thinker and meet goals as outlined by the bank strategic plan.


    Working Conditions:

    Work is performed largely in an office environment with minimal chance for personal injury. Regular contact with clients and co-workers. Occasional out-of-town and overnight business travel (air or auto) required for business and education. Regular mental and visual concentration for computer usage required. Regular use of telephone; frequent repetitive use of keyboard for approximately 4 hours per day. Receive and provide detailed information through verbal and written communication. Requires near, mid-range, and far vision. Will alternate sitting, standing, and walking throughout work shift. Bend, turn, lift and carry up to 20 pounds of documents and office supplies. Climb stairs. Hours of work are generally during regular business hours and average at least 40-45 hours a week. There will be some variation in work hours due to special projects, deadlines, community events, security calls, and other concerns.


    Equipment Used:

    Operates personal computer in a Windows environment for word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, internet, and other bank specific software. Operates core systems on Experience. Utilizes a variety of office equipment including computer printer, ten-key calculator, fax, copy machine, and multi-line telephone.
