Business Development Director directs the execution of the business development vision, strategy, plans, and processes to drive sales, increase revenue, expand markets, and accomplish financial objectives. Identifies and evaluates new markets, partners, channels, and customers. Being a Business Development Director develops and uses contacts and relationships within the industry, business environment, and customer base to understand and respond to competition, pricing, and product demand changes. Oversees the development of proposals and contracts for new business opportunities and manages negotiations. Additionally, Business Development Director collaborates with marketing, sales, product development, and other stakeholders to support business development plans. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Business Development Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Business Development Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     SUMMARY   

    The Director, Business Development is responsible for revenue growth.  Interacting with senior levels of client and prospective client organizations, this person will wield a great deal of influence and be an expert negotiator.  This role will understand how to interpret potential client business challenges and recommend Butler/Till marketing solutions to drive positive business outcomes targeted toward existing and new markets.  


    KEY OUTCOMES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    Key Responsibilities:  

    • Develop and maintain a deep knowledge of the agency’s capabilities, contacts, and past pitches. 
    • Own and maintain a forecast, with probability to close and updated status so Leadership has a read on pipeline value at any point in time. 
    • Demonstrate excellent negotiation skills to close deals favorable to both the client and Butler/Till. 
    • Work cross functionally with Marketing, Account, Integrated Planning, Media (and other capabilities as needed) to collaboratively produce pitch decks that showcase Butler/Tills capabilities. 
    • Identify and partner with other agencies to work on existing or new business opportunities. 

    Key Outcome:? Build and manage a pipeline of marketing and media leads 

    Key Responsibilities:  

    • Partner with executive leadership to leverage knowledge of Butler/Till media solutions to generate interest and build market awareness. 
    • Identify and pursue qualified leads through various channels including, but not limited to; email, social / LinkedIn Sales Navigator, phone call and warm introductions, while managing pipeline using a CRM. 
    • Participate and lead RFI and RFPs to support Enterprise opportunities. May include being part of the pitch team for the presentation. 
    • Attend conferences, events, and client meetings to represent Butler/Tills marketing and media solutions. 
    • Assist in the creation of marketing content for new business and manage incoming leads.

    Key Responsibilities:  

    • Continuously demonstrate clear and open communication to build trust between the prospective client and the business. 
    • Swiftly addressing any issues or concerns showcases dedication to the prospective client's satisfaction and reinforces their importance. 
    • Actively seeking and incorporating prospective client feedback demonstrates a commitment to continuous improvement and client satisfaction. 
    • Continuously providing value through relevant information, insights, or additional services strengthens the prospective client relationship over time. 

    Other Responsibilities:  

    • Will be required to travel last minute due to pitch opportunities and several times during the year for conferences and strategic connections. 

    Requirements

    QUALIFICATIONS 

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS  

    • Bachelor’s degree in advertising, communication, business administration or similar 
    • 7 years’ experience in the advertising, account management or relevant industries 
    • 5   years’ experience in business development of marketing and media solutions to executive decision-makers in  
    • Proven track record of successfully pitching for new business and growth 
    • Firm understanding of current and emerging marketing and media capabilities. 
    • Strong attention to detail and organization skills 
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
    • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines 

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS  

    • Masters degree in Marketing, Communications, Business administration or similar 
    • Agency experience is a plus
