Business Development Manager manages the daily execution of the business development strategy, plans, and processes to drive sales, increase revenue, expand markets, and accomplish financial objectives. Coaches teams in best practices and effective tactics for prospecting new markets, partners, channels, and customers. Being a Business Development Manager establishes team targets and metrics to measure the achievement of objectives. Develops and uses contacts and relationships within the industry, business environment, and customer base to understand and respond to competition, pricing, and product demand changes. Additionally, Business Development Manager makes suggestions for new product offerings or improvements to sales or marketing efforts. May administer or negotiate new business proposals and prepare contracts. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Business Development Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Business Development Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Summary/Function:

    The Business Development position works with Financial Professionals to identify opportunities for Davidson Investment Advisors’ various investment solutions to be utilized in their books of business. This position is expected to develop quality relationships across D.A. Davidson & Co. and other wealth management platform channels to support the growth of Davidson Investment Advisors. A successful candidate for this position will be a thoughtful, dynamic, sales-minded professional with a passion for active public equity and fixed income investing.
    Experience and Skills:

    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and related training; advanced degree or professional designation a plus
    • 5 years industry experience in a business development function with experience sourcing and closing new business
    • Familiarity with actively-managed investment strategies, modern portfolio theory, and separate account management concepts and product offerings
    • Series 65 or 66 license, or ability to attain within first three months of employment
    • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced team environment.
    • Proven ability to proactively work successfully with both external and internal clients.
    • Ability to travel as needed (approximately 20-40% travel on an annual basis)
    Duties:
    • Develop, cultivate, and manage strong relationships with Financial Professionals through consultative and proactive service- both in-person and virtual
    • Provide superior client service through a responsive, thoughtful, and organized approach to managing both existing client and prospective client relationships
    • Deliver sales presentations, seminars, and consulting meetings with Financial Professionals and other Centers of Influence across partner distribution channels
    • Identify needs for and contribute to the creation and distribution of marketing and other promotional efforts
    • Document and track sales and client service activity in CRM system
    • Participate in special projects and initiatives as needed
