Business Development Manager, Sr. manages the daily execution of the business development strategy, plans, and processes to drive sales, increase revenue, expand markets, and accomplish financial objectives. Coaches teams in best practices and effective tactics for prospecting new markets, partners, channels, and customers. Being a Business Development Manager, Sr. establishes team targets and metrics to measure the achievement of objectives. Develops and uses contacts and relationships within the industry, business environment, and customer base to understand and respond to competition, pricing, and product demand changes. Additionally, Business Development Manager, Sr. makes suggestions for new product offerings or improvements to sales or marketing efforts. May administer or negotiate new business proposals and prepare contracts. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Business Development Manager, Sr. typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Business Development Manager, Sr. typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. The Company’s diversified portfolio of services covers all areas of preclinical drug discovery/development including “Discovery Biology”, “Synthetic Organic and Medicinal Chemistry”, DMPK/in-vivo pharmacology and GLP Toxicology.
    We are seeking a Business Development Manager (Ocular Research and Ophthalmology) to promote the company’s portfolio of early drug discovery services to secure new accounts and to grow existing accounts at pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. The position can either be home based or at one of GD3’s current sites in the US (NJ, PA, CT, CA, MI, and WA).
    This is a remote position.

    Responsibilities:
    • Identify and qualify new prospects and business collaboration opportunities by reaching out to decision makers at pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies operating in the pre-clinical space
    • Collaborate with the Company’s senior scientific management to perform feasibility assessments and to convert the opportunities into project proposals
    • Assist in decisions involving price structure and price negotiations
    • Develop proposals and assist with the execution of contracts and service agreements
    • Establish and maintain frequent contact with clients through focused client visits and presentations to ensure high levels of client satisfaction on client issues and needs
    • Contribute to developing and implementing the marketing and sales strategy (e.g., brochures, company presentations, website improvement)
    • Conduct in-depth research using web resources, scientific forums and other lead sources to identify trendsetting ideas and opportunities
    • Maintain accurate and current contacts database for accounts (active and targeted); this includes such as account profiles, individual contact details, opportunities and communications
    • Actively participating at professional meetings and conventions as appropriate
    Job Requirements:
    • BS or MS degree in Life Science with working knowledge of pharmaceutical/CRO industries required. Strong experience and understanding of ocular and ophthalmological animal research as it relates to model development and drug discovery highly preferable.
    • Experience in business development related to pre-clinical contract research preferred
    • Motivation and ability to expand the existing expertise into new science and business areas are required
    • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, good judgment and ability to communicate with a diverse range of professionals from the Drug Discovery and Development community
    • Ability to recognize the needs of the customer and collaborate with scientific management of the Company to develop proposals
    • GxP experience is a plus
    • Some travel required
