Business Development Supervisor identifies, evaluates, and pursues business opportunities with partners or potential customers. Coordinates and negotiates with other departments to implement marketing initiatives. Being a Business Development Supervisor is responsible for maintaining close relationship with existing clients. Acquires new customers, retains and expands existing customer relationships. Additionally, Business Development Supervisor develops sales of products and services by investigating and resolving customer problems, recommends modifications to the product/service line, and coordinates sales negotiations with appropriate personnel. Responsible for meeting sales volume and revenue goals and standards for activity, such as number of sales calls. Requires a bachelor's degree in business, finance or marketing. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Business Development Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Business Development Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.   • The Business Development Specialist (BDS) plays a pivotal role in delivering business development services, back office support and technical assistance to entrepreneurs, micro-enterprises, and small businesses. This entails offering business coaching, consulting, resources, and support to businesses, ensuring their growth and sustainability. Salary is negotiable depending on experience.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Foster day-to-day interaction with businesses.
    • Initiate contact and cultivate relationships with new and existing small businesses in Kansas City through various channels such as phone calls, emails, in-person meetings, and virtual sessions to assess their needs.
    • Establish effective networks and resources within the community.
    • Proficiency in identifying both business needs and avenues for growth.
    • Utilize various Business Development Frameworks & Tools to facilitate business growth and sustainability.
    • Maintain comprehensive records for each entrepreneur and business involved in the program.
    • Coordinate workshops and training for PBA businesses and participants within cohorts.
    • Demonstrate technological proficiency.
    • Engage in ongoing outreach to community-based organizations and corporations to enhance resources and support for PBA members.
    • Maintain regular contact with each business as specified by PBA.
    • Prepare monthly reports as directed by the PBA Executive Director.
    • Participate in and assist with organizing all PBA monthly meetings.
    • Collaborate with PBA Executive Director and/or assigned staff to create basic marketing materials for ongoing service promotion.
    • Conduct individual meetings with assigned businesses.
    • Schedule appointments and follow up with assigned businesses.
    • Offer direct support, resources, and referrals to businesses.
    • Complete all necessary paperwork, surveys, and assigned tasks.
    • Liaise with accountants, legal professionals, and marketing experts to aid businesses.
    • Fulfill any other duties as assigned.

    Other Essential Job Duties:

    • Minimum of 2 years of direct experience in economics, finance, business coaching, organizational development, and/or business development.
    • General understanding of business plans and their components.
    • Familiarity with business resources within the broader Kansas City area.
    • Strong understanding of business processes and financials.
    • Excellent business coaching skills and techniques.
    • Effective communication, both verbal and written.
    • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new situations.
    • Capacity to work independently and as part of a team.

    The Business Development Specialist reports directly to the Operations Manager. Effective communication is paramount in interactions with both the business community and the PBA Team, utilizing various communication platforms. The BDS must possess critical thinking and problem-solving skills, maintain professionalism, and demonstrate the ability to work independently. Creativity, innovation, and attention to detail are essential in finding solutions to assist businesses and contribute to PBA's vision of Creating a Healthy Community.

    All PBA staff, whether in-person or via various communication platforms, represent and reflect the PBA team, the Executive Director, and the Board of Directors. Staff and consultants are expected to utilize their experiences, skillset, and talents to fulfill their job duties as outlined at the time of hire. While training is provided, possessing the basic skillset reflected in the resume and stated at the time of hire is expected.

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: From $54,000.00 per year
