  • About the role/team

    The Global Director of Marketing Intelligence is accountable for overall marketing effectiveness, including reporting on the performance across all marketing. This position is responsible for creating a culture of ROI and impact-based marketing. Ensuring all activity is tracked and reported on within an agreed time. The role is to ensure all investment in marketing has clear KPIs and demonstrates the value back to the business for every dollar spent.

    This role encompasses using tools and resources to measure marketing activity effectively. Creating control groups, setting up reporting structures, and leading frequent marketing performance sessions to demonstrate marketing effectiveness. The role will need a deep understanding of the customers, working with the marketing team to build an effective ROI strategy to aid acquisition, growth, and retention.

    The role includes planning and supporting the senior team prioritizing activity on a value-based approach. The use of Monday.com and other planning tools to ensure all FTE resources are being used against the activities that provide the greatest return on investment or are aligned to the strategic priorities of the business.

    The role will also encompass elements of risk and compliance and support the directors ensure the process and ways of working are in place to ensure a compliant marketing team per required regulations and internal processes. E.g. data privacy, audits, and demonstrating adherence to processes and procedures internally and externally

    How you'll make an impact

    • Leverage data, analytics, infrastructure, and business processes to support and execute the overall marketing strategy.

    • Support the annual planning cycle and quarterly planning process to ensure all activities and priorities within teams are aligned from a strategic and effectiveness basis.

    • Create performance communications on behalf of the CMO.

    • Work with the internal digital team, audience-based marketing, data, and analytics along with external agencies as defined to report on overall brand effectiveness.

    • Partner with finance, data, and analytics teams to ensure the marketing department can correctly report on the ratio between customer lifetime value and customer acquisition cost, by marketing acquisition tactics.

    • Partner with WEX's global Finance team to build, manage, and intimately understand global marketing budgets and spend accordingly along with suggested ROI for spend. Plan and phase spend and work with finance partners on the monthly accrual process to ensure a clear view of planned, committed, and Invoice spend. Allowing for spend to be allocated and allocated to activities that deliver to objectives.

    • Own and manage marketing efficiency tools management including project management and digital asset management tools.

    • Support overall marketing team engagement, workflow processes and operationalize the strategy across all marketing verticals

    • Work closely with the global marketing teams to create efficiencies and collaborate on global and local priorities.

    • Regularly inform stakeholders across marketing, sales, and finance of insights on marketing performance to ensure cross-functional alignment on the best possible data-driven marketing strategy.

    • Manage, build, and lead a strong team by coaching and developing existing members and closing talent gaps where needed.

    • Lead cross-functionally to drive a greater understanding of marketing performance and work with planning to ensure priority to those activities that drive the greatest returns.

    • Partner with risk and compliance to ensure marketing delivers to the highest standards both internally and externally with any regulatory requirements.

    Experience you'll bring

    • 8-10 years of professional marketing experience
    • 5 years of Marketing Effectiveness and ROI tracking experience essential

    • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Finance, Business Analytics, or related field

    • Editorial and content experience - either from a pure editorial background or in a communications function

    • Experience with project management tools such as Asana, SmartSheets, Monday.com, etc.

    • Experience with BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Google Looker Studio, etc.

    • Experience working for a highly matrixed B2B organization would be advantageous

    • Experienced managing media buying and effective management of agency partners / in-house colleagues

    • Strong knowledge and understanding of the customer and how to meet their needs

    • Culturally adept and at home working across a geographically diverse workforce

    • Confident communicator to both external and internal customers and strong relationship-building skills

    • Extraordinary project-management skills: proficiency in multi-tasking, and juggling multiple projects and timelines

    • Energetic and creative thinker who will seek to bring new ideas to the table.

    The base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as your qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base pay is one component of WEX's total compensation package. Most sales positions are eligible for commission under the terms of an applicable plan. Non-sales roles are typically eligible for a quarterly or annual bonus based on their role and applicable plan.
