JOB DESCRIPTION:
The lead crew member sets the example for litter crew members. The lead crew member picks up litter along the highway and assists the supervisor with planning to reach team goals. Lead crew members will also cover for the supervisor during scheduled or unscheduled time off. Your morning will start off by meeting your supervisor and other crew members at a designated location. Litter pickup includes shoulders and medians of the highway but excludes travel lanes. Wherever there are grassy medians, the center shoulder shall be picked up. The days are Monday through Friday, occasional Saturdays.

$20.00/hr.

OUTDOOR WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED.
MUST HAVE CLEAN DRIVING RECORD.
Must be at least 25 years of age.
JOB DUTIES:

• Required to report to work at the appointed hour, as scheduled, and to work the entire assigned schedule.
• Ensure equipment safety before during, and after use.
• Must obey all safety rules and regulations.
• Pick up and bag litter along assigned interstates and other roadways.
• Load and unload trash bags at designated locations.
• Setting up, moving and picking up highway awareness signs throughout the work day.
• Meet and exceed assigned litter collection goals.
• Communicate with field supervisor any hazards or unsafe conditions.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to apply understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
• Ability to take a teamwork approach to the job cooperating with others, offering help to others when needed, and considering large organizational goals rather than individual concerns.
• Ability to be self-controlled and exercise good judgement.
• Must wear proper clothing including protective equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Reliable transportation to meet assigned location as early as 6:00am.
• Walk up to 5 miles per day.
• Use of grabber-type device.
• High-school diploma or GED preferred.
• General labor experience preferred.
• 1-2 years professional driving experience.

Preferred Skills
Ability to work independently, detail oriented, operate a variety of small hand tools, two-way radio, phone and other items needed for the job.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will occasionally be required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift up to fifty pounds; will regularly be required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms; and will frequently be required to talk or hear. Special vision requirements are close, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to walk for extended periods of time over rough, steep or uneven terrain in all weather conditions.
Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will occasionally be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; and will frequently be exposed to moving traffic and outdoor weather conditions. The noise level for this environment will be loud. Requires of collection of litter along roadways and rights-of-way for extended periods and in all types of weather.
