EHS Specialist
We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist to join our team. The EHS Specialist will play a key role in implementing and managing programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and create a safe and sustainable workplace.
Responsibilities:
1. Regulatory Compliance:
- Stay current with local, state, and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Interpret and communicate regulatory requirements to ensure company-wide compliance.
2. Risk Assessments and Audits:
- Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and assess the effectiveness of existing safety measures.
- Perform regular audits of facilities and operations to ensure compliance with safety standards.
3. Incident Investigation:
- Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare and maintain detailed incident reports.
4. Training and Awareness:
- Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees at all levels.
- Promote a culture of safety by fostering awareness and best practices.
5. Emergency Preparedness:
- Develop and implement emergency response plans and drills.
- Ensure the availability and functionality of safety equipment and systems.
6. Waste Management:
- Oversee the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and waste.
- Implement recycling programs and other sustainable initiatives.
7. Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with internal departments to integrate EHS considerations into daily operations.
- Communicate EHS policies and procedures to employees and contractors.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or related field.
- Proven experience as an EHS Specialist or in a similar role.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations (EPA, OSHA, etc.) and best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Certification in EHS (such as CSP, CHMM, or similar) is a plus.
